Brussels – The PU industry in Europe could be facing a 'cultural price-revolution' with increased volatility along the chain value becoming the norm, EuroPUR president Bart ten Brink warned in an open letter.

Ten Brink: prices will change
In the letter, published on the EuroPUR website, ten Brink said: 'The players in the supply chain must adapt to the volatility of pries and foresee the need for corrective mechanisms.'
Saying that the era of relatively long-term stable pricing in supply contracts may be over, he warned: '[The change is] not easy for mattress/furniture producers and automotive foam users who are not used to this, and cannot always adapt their prices on a weekly basis.'
But things will change, he said, as the rest of the economy adapts to the current circumstances: ‘The supply chain will need to find ways too.'
