Ludwigshafen, Germany - BASF has said there was an explosion, 26 Feb 2013, at the construction site for its TDI (toluene diisocyanate) plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
BASF ceo Kurt Bock told attendees at the company's 2012 results meeting that it is believed that the explosion, which happened at 10am local time, was the result of excavation work.
No further details are available at present.
BASF broke ground 23 Nov on the site, which is expected to make 300 kilotonnes per annum of TDI when completed in 2014. The explosion is not expected to affect the construction schedule.
