Automotive Seating generated sales of €1,200.8 million a decline of 2.4% compared with the first quarter 2005. Sales were adversely affected by a sharp downturn in business with the French automakers, a trend that was partially offset by a rise in production of the Audi Q7, the BMW 3 Series and the new Toyota Yaris. Outside Europe, sales increased by 16% in North America, thanks in particular to sales with General Motors (Pontiac G6 and Chevrolet Malibu) and Chrysler
Sales of other vehicle interiors rose by 7.3%. The impact of favorable exchange rates was 2.4%. Sales benefited from a rise in production of the Mercedes-Benz S Class and the Volkswagen Passat in Europe and the start of sales in China. Sales in North America increased by 40%, due to a rise in production of the Volkswagen Jetta and the Chrysler PT Cruiser.
