Nanterre, France -- Faurecia North America will share its expertise on reducing vehicle mass in presentations at the ITB Automotive Cockpit and Door 2009 Conference 24 Sept at the Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel in Novi, Michigan.

    Faurecia topics include:

    *  "Lightweight Sustainable Substrate Materials for Automotive Interiors," presented by Lisa Viazanko, product concept engineer for  Faurecia North America. She will provide a global overview of natural fibre composite materials and processes that Faurecia is applying as the next generation of lightweight automotive interior substrates.

    *  "Lightweight Reinforced Airbag Lid in Foam (RALF)," presented by Christophe Baillet, senior manager, concept engineering for Faurecia North America. He will discuss Faurecia's innovative RALF technology, which has a highly optimised instrument panel passenger airbag lid system. The lid's structural 3D-skeleton form section creates significant weight savings, while improving passenger safety and providing more design freedom for the instrument panel.

Tier one automotive supplier Faurecia specialises in seats, vehicle interiors, front ends and exhaust systems. The company is headquartered in Nanterre, France, with its North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The French group says weight reduction continues to be important in the automotive industry as automakers look toward lighter and more fuel- and space-efficient vehicles. Faurecia claims to be a leader in developing innovations to make vehicles lighter and more environmentally sound.

ITB Group's Automotive Cockpit and Door Conference, at the Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel, 21111 Haggerty Road, Novi, Michigan 48375,   Thursday 24 Sept  2009, focuses on new technologies; sustainability; styling/design; materials; mass reduction; and energy management.
