Kitzingen, Germany -- Sustainable, superior performance and technical competence pay off, according to FS Fehrer Automotive GmbH who has gained the "Daimler Supplier Award 2010" for interior supply.
International automotive supplier Fehrer, based in Kitzingen, said quality, cost and supply as well as technology and innovation are essential for a successful long-term supplier relationship.
These are also the basis for the evaluation system which the Daimler AG uses to measure the performance of all suppliers annually.
"Lean corporate structures and a fast, customer-oriented responsiveness are the main features that we value Fehrer for," said Dr Klaus Zehender, vice president of Material Purchasing of Mercedes Benz Cars and Vans, as he presented Dr Bernd Welzel, ceo of Fehrer Automotive, with the award.
Daimler particularly appreciated the latest foam technology, developed by Fehrer and used in selected Mercedes-Benz models for the first time: this 3D foam technology for high seating comfort and ultra-light foam, is called "bluefoam."
Fehrer makes moulded seat pads for car seats, arm rests, centre consoles, side bolsters, headrests and inner trim panels as well as structural parts for cars.
"It is a great honor for us receiving this special award from our long-term partner, the Daimler AG. The supplier award confirms us in our efforts to consistently work on new product and process solutions," said Welzel.
He also stressed that the launch of new foam technologies "only succeeds through partnership and cooperation with our customers. Daimler is a company whose self-conception includes pioneering innovations."
