Chicago, Illinois - Female condom manufacturer Female Health Company announced a 34 percent increase in revenues for the first half of this year, putting the result to greater shipments of its contraceptive product to public sector customers worldwide.

The company said it had produced a positive cash flow and finished the second quarter with a debt-free balance sheet and $1.8 million in the bank.

Female Health Company said the US Agency for International Development would order 8.5 million female condoms during this year, 6.5 million more than their supply contract first estimated.

''We believe (Female Health Company's) FC female condom is becoming a mainstream component of HIV/AIDS prevention programmes throughout the world,'' the company said in a statement.

It plans to start selling its FC-2 ''second-generation'' female condom in 2007 and capture 3 percent of the male condom market.

Female Health Company also announced that its Indian Government-run partner, Hindustan Latex Limited, would manufacture FC-2 in India and sell it both to the government and consumers under the trade name Confidom.
