Manheim, Pennsylvania -- Fenner Precision, a manufacturer of rubber belts, tyres and pulleys, has introduced a new range of synchronous polyurethane belts, which it claims offer more surface contact with the pulley and more uniformly distributed stress concentration.
The range of High Torque belts have a curvilinear tooth profile as opposed to the traditional trapezoidal profile, providing benefits such as less noise, dusting, backlash and vibration, as well as improved positioning and better wear and accuracy.
The nature of polyurethane offers several advantages over traditional materials including a cleaner tooth profile, different grades for higher coefficient of friction and temperatures, and tensile strengths exceeding 1000 lbs.
Fenner said that the belts are especially suitable for uses including paper propulsion, such as office scanners, faxes, copiers, printers, binding machines, collators and folders. They are also useful in medical, electronic, closed-circuit TV, camera, ATM and toy applications.
They can be custom designed and Fenner said that it will work with clients to meet their individual needs.
