Leverkusen, Germany - BSB (Banera sobre Banera) and its direct supplier Handcrafted Industrial Projects, both based in the Spanish city of Valencia, have teamed up with Bayer's global polyurethane umbrella brand, BaySystems, to create a hard-wearing bathtub for use in hotels.
Using the filler-free polyurethane system Multitec Advanced Foam, the companies have developed a bathtub that will be able to cope with high stresses and heavy-duty detergents, a Bayer statement said.
"The system is applied just like a coating," explained Alfonso Navarro, founder and managing director of Handcrafted Industrial Projects. "No plasticisers or solvents are required and it is processed without glass fibres or fillers on high- or low-pressure equipment. "There is no need for energy-intensive annealing either," continued Navarro. "The system is therefore ideal for the cost-effective and eco-friendly production of hard-wearing bathtubs. Manufacturers also benefit from the excellent design flexibility offered by the process," he concluded. (RD)
