St Charles, Michigan -- Filtrona Porous Technologies has appointed Dr Chandrasiri "Chandra" Jayakody as director of research and development in Foam Technology.
Jayakody joins Filtrona Porous Technologies from Chestnut Ridge Foam Inc.
He has a Ph.D. in Organic/Polymer Chemistry and did postdoctoral work on polyurethane/silicone elastomers and flexible polyurethane foams. Jayakody is author/co-author of more than 35 publications and/or public presentations on foam composition and processing.
"Chandra brings an exceptionally broad spectrum of capabilities with foam chemistry and foam process technology to our organisation," said Tim Drumhiller, divisional vice president - Foam Products, in a company announcement.
"His strong track record with polyurethane foam technology will be an invaluable asset to our organization as we look to innovate and enhance our product portfolio for medical, wound care, personal care, and industrial product applications for new customers globally."
Filtrona Porous Technologies, based in Richmond, Virginia, makes customised bonded fibre and hydrophilic foam components for fluid and vapour handling for use in consumer, medical and industrial products.
The group has plants in North America, Europe and Asia, and is a division of Filtrona plc, a global speciality plastic and fibre products supplier based in the UK.
