Dallas, Texas -- Flowserve Corp.'s director of fluid dynamics at its pumps division, Bruno Schiavello, has been awarded this year's Fluid Machinery Design Award by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
Schiavello earned the lifetime ASME award for his achievements in advanced pump design for both single-size pumps and complete pump lines, a statement by the fluid motion and control products manufacturer said.
The company said his innovative designs had contributed to major improvements in pump efficiency, energy usage, size and weight.
Schiavello has had more than 30 years experience in the fluid motion industry, previously working at Worthington Nord of Italy and the McGraw-Edison Company.
He has served on the advisory committee for the International Pump Users Symposium since 1983 and organised the fifth ASME International Symposium on Pumping Machinery in 2005.
