Haarlem, the Netherlands - Fluor Corp. has secured a contract for engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for BASF's toluene diisocyanate (TDI) project in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
TDI production at the 300 000 tonnes-per-year plant is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2014. Fluor said it has been involved in the project since 2011, performing support services for both the pre-FEED (front-and engineering and design) and FEED work for the project.
"Fluor continues to expand its long resume for the design and construction of new chemicals plants led from our Haarlem operations centre," said Peter Oosterveer, president of Fluor's Energy & Chemicals Group in a 19 Feb news release.
Fluor's Haarlem, the Netherlands, operation centre will lead the project with support from Gilwice, Poland. More than 800 Fluor workers are contributing to the construction of the facility expansion, the engineering and construction company said.
