Zurich -- FoamPartner, the foam materials business unit of Conzzeta Group of Switzerland, is to take over Kureta GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Stadtallendorf (Germany), with effect from the beginning of 2009. Kureta, whose specialisations include cutting foam for ceramic filters, has 45 employees and annual sales of around Euro 7 million ($8.8 million).
FoamPartner, which develops, manufactures and processes high-grade foams, said the acquisition of Kureta will enhance its capabilities in specialised foam processing.
No purchase price was disclosed.
Kureta, whose name derives from the German words for plastics and reticulation, specialises in open-cell reticulated technical foams. The company's website says it recognised the value of reticulation early on, to open cells and optimise the void structure, giving even, open-celled, filter foam materials.
Reticulation offers opportunities for innovation and Kureta said it has worked with major European raw material manufacturers to develop and optimise high quality materials, opening up "completely new operational areas."
