Lotte, Germany — Frimo has launched an electrically powered back-foaming system for automotive carpet applications.
Frimo said the new tool carrier is electrically driven, unlike traditional hydraulically operated carriers used in this application.
The firm added that by moving to an electric drive there is a considerable energy saving compared to hydraulic machines. Additionally, there is no hydraulic liquid to leak, and the machines are much quieter, Frimo said.
The fully electric tool carriers can be switched off individually, Frimo said, this makes plants much more resilient operating with them much more resilient than hydraulically operated plants.
With a width of 4 m, a depth of 5.5 m and a closed height of approximately 2.7 m its open height is about 4.2 m and the tool carrier weighs around 10 tonne, the firm said.
Frimo continued that the top part of tool can be turned at an angle of 180° through an electric gear motor - a 90° turn takes around eight seconds. The lower part of the mould can also be turned at an angle of 90° within five seconds.
The movement of the upper and lower parts are controlled separately and parallel movements can be carried out.
