Stuttgart, Germany - FRIMO Group GmbH and Schuler SMG GmbH & Co. KG have formed a "composites alliance" to offer their customers "tailored turnkey solutions" from a single source for the mass manufacturing of lightweight components.
The alliance was agreed at the Composites Europe fair, held 27-29 Sept 2011 in Stuttgart, Germany, according to a 27 Sept news release from FRIMO of Lotte, Germany.
The two companies aim to reach new markets by exploiting their synergies. Schuler of Göppingen, Germany, supplies machines and production lines for the plastics-processing industry while FRIMO provides system solutions for fibre-reinforced plastics and polyurethane processing, as well as tools and machinery.
"The alliance enables us to offer complete systems for the field of composites processing," said Manfred Wischnewski, managing director of Schuler SMG.
He added, "In the field of plastics processing, automation and tooling technology, FRIMO has many years of expertise and a strong reputation on the market. We are firmly convinced that this alliance will bring our customers considerable benefits."
Customers will benefit from the extended possibilities of 'one-stop shopping', such as fewer interfaces, better CAD connections and optimised processes, the companies said, noting that in their respective fields, both partners offer leading know-how and an extensive range of references in the automotive and aviation industries, as well as for railway vehicles and other applications.
