Frankfurt, Germany - The FSK, the German association for foamed plastics and polyurethane, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, holding a conference on technical and market issues under the motto: "Yesterday - today - tomorrow."
The FSK event will be held on the site of and in cooperation with Evonik Industries AG on 21/22 Nov in Essen. At the conference, in addition to technical outlooks on the future and the past, a short film on the history of the association and the industry will be shown.
The FSK claims to be one of the world's oldest organisations for foamed plastics and polyurethanes and is still the only national association in Europe. No other association in Europe comprises polyurethanes as well as other materials and has as many member companies as the FSK.
Even during the early years the FSK was in close contact with polyurethane inventor Prof Otto Bayer, who -- like many other pioneers in the industry -- was presented with the FSK's Honorary Medal for his achievements.
For over 40 years, the FSK has been organising conferences on foamed plastics as well as polyurethane applications. The first Polyurethane World Congress took place 1987, under the leadership of the FSK and on European soil. For more than 15 years. the FSK has been presenting an Innovation Award for Polyurethane and an Innovation Award Foamed Plastics to students, young professionals and to businesses for their ideas.
Represented in the FSK are raw material and machine manufacturers, system houses, additive suppliers, plastics processors and OEMs such as Volkswagen and BMW, representing the entire value chain.
