Würzburg, Germany – FSK, the German association for foam plastics and polyurethanes, is awarding 500 vouchers – of €5 each – towards Level 1 diisocyanate safety training. From 24 August 2023, all employees in the EU who work with diisocyantes require certification in the safe handling of the substance.
Since February this year, all diisocyanate products sold within the EU have displayed labels informing customers of the mandatory training. Diisocyanates have been subject to restriction across the bloc since August 2020, when EU Regulation 2020/1149 came into force. The new regulation amends Annex XVII of the European REACH regulation (907/2006) with the inclusion of diisocyanates in the restriction list.
Over the last year, FSK has conducted over 6,000 training courses in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. On completion of the basic course, which the association says takes no longer than one to two hours, each participant receives an FSK certificate, which serves as recognised proof of training under the Regulation.
FSK offers three teaching modes: an e-learning course through the association’s website, classroom learning at various physical locations, and blended learning (a mixture of e-learning and in-person training). In addition to the Level 1 course, FSK offers Level 2 and Level 3 training for employees who have higher risk of exposure to diisocyanates.
FSK is awarding the vouchers on a first-come, first-served basis from its website at https://www.fsk-training.de/. The vouchers must be redeemed before the end of March 2023.
