Bürs, Austria /Kunshan, China -- Getzner Werkstoffe is supplying elastic supports for rail fastening in China for the high-speed rail link between Beijing and Shanghai.
PU elastomer expert Getzner said that for this major contract -- its second from the Chinese Ministry of Railways - it will be operating on a four-shift basis at its Austrian-Chinese joint venture in Kunshan, China. The contract is valued at Euro 17.1 million ($22.6 million), and is planned to be completed in 2012.
According to Getzner, China is expanding its rail network by over 10 000 km in the next four years. As part of this expansion, a twin-track high-speed line is being built between Beijing and Shanghai.
The elastic support for the railway is being produced by the Byrel Fastening Systems joint venture, in which Getzner is majority shareholder. Eight companies tendered for supply of the rail fastenings, Getzner said.
