Buers, Austria — Getzner Werkstoffe has introduced a new grade of its Sylomer polyurethane bearing with tuneable material composition for concrete stairs onto the market.
Getzner says: 'Be quiet on the stairs!'
Designated SB10, it can reduce impact noise by 31 dB, and is aimed at residential, commercial and industrial buildings, said Getzner.
It is important to reduce impact noise from stairs because it can propagate from attachment points at floors, ceilings and walls, said Getzner.
The bearing elastically decouples flights of stairs from the rest of the building, reducing the transmission of vibrations and noise. It can withstand conventional stair flight loads over a six-metre span at stair weights of up to 6 T, adds the firm.
The bearing is 12mm thick, and the bearing is available in four types: SB10 S, SB10 I, SB10 L and SB10 Z. “The bearing material can be flexibly adapted to the specific dimensions. This is important in order to be able to even out the construction tolerances that inevitably occur. Sylomer retains its elastic properties,” said the firm.
