Tokyo – Tokyo’s tallest tower, Toranomon Hills, will be protected from the vibration impact of the main road beneath it by Getzner’s polyurethane Sylomer.
In a project completed this year, the firm elastically mounted the Hyatt hotel and installed an elastic bearing for the four-lane roadway which runs beneath it, said Winfried Ries, head of Getzner's Japanese subsidiary.
Getzner has also embedded the hotel floors, pool areas, gym and machinery rooms on Sylomer.
The firm's vibration dampening material was chosen to produce the floating floors for the UK intercity express as reported at UTECH-polyurethane.com earlier this year. and is highly flame retardant, according to Getzner.
The Tokyo project was completed in 2014.
