Ridgefield, Connecticut - Polyurethane and hazardous waste containment manufacturer Global Matrechs has signed a manufacturing agreement with silicone products maker Dow Corning Corp.
Dow Corning, a joint venture between Dow Chemical Co. and Corning Inc., will produce Global Matrechs's NuCap silicone geo-polymer composite which is used in the containment of radioactive contaminants, a statement from the firm said.
Modifications will be made to a part of Dow Corning's facility in Midland, Michigan, in order to start manufacturing NuCap, the statement added.
"Dow Corning has collaborated with us for more than 18 months to help us obtain the level of equipment, management, engineering support and training to meet the standards for quality and quantity required by the growing customer base for our NuCap materials," said Global Matrechs' chief executive Michael Sheppard in the prepared statment. "We believe this relationship with Dow Corning will enable us to successfully fill certain large orders anticipated in the near future," Sheppard added.
