Ridgefield, Connecticut - Global Matrechs Inc. has announced approval of the first part of a $100 000+ order for polyurethane coatings from Republic Airport at Farmington, Connecticut. Along with its application partner, Phazer, Inc., Global Matrechs began work on 21 April 2008. Two coats of the company's HNPIU (hybrid non-isocyanate polyurethane) will be applied to a total of 70 000 sq.ft (6500 sq.m) of the airport's concrete floor.
"This is only the first part of the project. The company expects at least another 100 000 sq.ft to be completed this summer. This is the largest single order for HNIPU to date," claims Global Matrechs.
"HNIPU exhibits superior resistance properties to chemical degradation of between 30 and 50 percent better over conventional polyurethanes with 3 to 4 times less permeability," stated Global Matrechs.
While conventional polyurethanes have a porous structure, NIPUs form a material with no pores, said Global Matrechs. The company describes HNPIU as a green product with no odour, no VOC (volatile organic compounds) content or toxic isocyanates, "resulting in no need for special drying procedures for the HNPIU to accept fillers."
Global Matrechs recommends HNIPU use with concrete, metal or wood in colours or clear top coating and says can be applied both indoors and outdoors.
Chairman, ceo and president of Global Matrechs, Michael Sheppard stated, "This order finally proves that all our hard work is starting to come to fruition."
