By strengthening the management through a new chief executive officer, we intend to accelerate the achievement of the ambitious objectives," said Grammer chairman Dr Bernd Blankenstein, in the statement. Lazzerini, which bought the Italian business, consists of four shareholders who are part of the previous management team at Grammer's Italian operation. The sale of this business, which has been part of Grammer since 1996, means the group is parting with its main European base for the production of passenger seats for buses. In an earlier statement on 31 May, Grammer said it saw the sale as "providing an opportunity to focus the group consistently on those target markets which will make a sustainable contribution to increasing its value and to its growth strategy."
