The 50,000 m2 site has room for 700 employees, the company said.

The two-phase project should be complete by the end of 2019. It is expected to cost about EUR 40m.

Grammer said bringing all its departments together in one place will 'unleash synergistic effects and improve the efficiency of the development process'.

'We are creating a modern working environment for our employees,' said CEO Hartmut Muller.

He added that the site is designed to have 'optimum conditions for productive, creative and ergonomic activities'.

'As well as this, we will be able to improve the efficiency and synergistic effects of our processes by pooling our R&D activities,' he said.

Grammer's headquarters are currently in Amberg, about 10 km (6 miles) north-east of Ursensollen.
