Orangeburg, South Carolina - Gulbrandsen Chemicals Inc. is to increase the price of all polyurethane additives for deliveries on or after 1 July 2008 or as contracts permit, the company announced, 12 June.
The prices for CP-2 flame retardant will rise by 15 percent while all other additives will increase by 5-7 percent. The company said this was due to continuously rising raw material, energy, packaging and transport costs associated with the polyurethane additives.
Gulbrandsen also said that unprecedented high demand for elemental phosphorus and other key raw materials used in the manufacture of flame retardants is also driving the increase in prices for CP-2 flame retardant.
T-Cat Catalysts, A-Cat Catalysts and CP-2 flame retardants are used in a wide range of flexible polyurethane foams for both residential and automotive seating and for bedding applications.
