Chicago, Illinois -- Dow Chemical Co. has sold two product lines from its Dow Hyperlast business to Chicago-based HallStar Co., in a move which allows the Dow unit to focus firmly on its polyurethane systems and elastomers business.
The Dioplex polymeric plasticisers and Rezilube polymer additives will be available from HallStar immediately.
Dioplex additives are high-molecular-weight, long-chain polyesters used in a wide range of applications, including food wrap, self-adhesive and electrical tape, and industrial hoses and tubing. Rezilube additives for lubricants provide valuable properties for formulators of biodegradable lubricant base stocks.
Describing the divestiture as "a positive step for our customers and for Dow," Gordon Alderley, systems house director for DowHyperlast, said, "HallStar has years of experience in the development and manufacture of polymeric esters so they can serve customers effectively, and it permits us to focus on our core business of polyurethane systems and Elastomers."
