Chongqing, China –Adhesives maker Hantuo Technology started up its new TPU facilities on October 21.
A total of CNY120m ($17.1m) has been invested in the plant. It is located at in Chongqing’s Changshou Economic and Technological Development Area. Construction started in 2018 and the plant had a trial run in March.
The plant is expected to generate CNY800m worth of annual production with capacity for:
• 8kT/year TPUs;
• 4kT/year waterborne PUDs;
• 6kT/year waterborne adhesives;
• 6kT/year hot melt adhesives;
• 4kT/year auto interior treatments; and
• 2kT/year for alumite coatings.
On the same day Hantuo also inaugurated laboratory with Korea’s Pukyong National University and the Korean Institute of Footwear & Leather Technology. Hantuo’s Korean shareholder JinKwang, als has a stake in the lab.
Hantuo is a Sino-Korean joint venture set up in 2010. It has another site in Chongqing, and research centres in Shanghai and Korea.
The company claims a 60% share in China’s wooden furniture adhesives market, Its portfolio is used in applications such as automotive, printing and packaging, hygienic products and construction.
