Luoyang, Henan – State-owned Henan Energy and Chemical Industry Group (HECIG) is to complete its 200kT/year ethylene glycol project.
Final environmental inspection started in February. This follows a successful trial run in December 2017.
The new plant is located at the Group’s site in Luoyang, Henan. Its subsidiary Yonglong Energy and Chemical, was the project manager.
Construction started in 2009. The plant was planned to come on stream in 30 months, said a provincial government website.
But, according to local websites, construction was delayed due to environmental problems.
These appear to have been overcome and the contractor, China Chemical Engineering Second Construction, said there was a successful trial run in December 2017.
According to the government website, the project involved CNY 2.6bn ($409m) investment, with an expectation of annual sales of CNY 1.5bn .
HECIG currently has 1.3 MT/year ethylene glycol capacity and plans to raise it to 3 MT/year.
