Sankt Augustin, Germany-On 23 March, polyurethane equipment specialist Hennecke GmbH opened a new spraying and metering centre for PU processing technologies at its site in Sankt Augustin near Bonn.
During the inauguration, Peter Vanacker, head of the Polyurethanes Business Unit of Bayer MaterialScience AG (pictured), highlighted his group's position as "the world's largest producer of polyurethane raw materials." Vanacker also stressed the good cooperation between BMS and its subsidiary Hennecke.
Innovative processes such as the jointly developed BMS-Hennecke PUR-CSM (composites spray moulding) technology "have made a key contribution to opening up new fields of application for polyurethanes," said a company statement.
Rudolf Brumund, managing director, thanked Bayer MaterialScience for its comprehensive support in the planning and construction of the PUR-CSM centre, saying that it not only reflects the innovation potential of Hennecke, but also the constructive cooperation with BMS.
Guests had a demonstration of the PUR-CSM technology, showing three CSM processes combined in one single technology to make a large-area car component of some 0.8 sq.m. This was followed by a demonstration of PUR-CSM for spraying the underneath of a moulded bathtub, a process already being successfully used commercially.
Hennecke aims to open up new business opportunities with the new centre, through innovative technologies and use the facilities for process development and raw material testing under mass-production conditions. Other uses include training, customer demonstrations and matching tests, as well as pilot-and small batch production runs, said Hennecke.
