The site in Milan, Italy will focus on panel systems. Tank farms for the company's systems business will be made in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Chinese sites, in Jiaxing and Shanghai, will make dry parts.
'What was previously planned and built at several sites in parallel will now be produced at only one centre of excellence,' said Thomas Wildt, the company's CEO, who was appointed in April. 'This will make the entire corporate group more competitive.
'The core brands and the branding of the individual products and services are remaining, and continue to be clearly identifiable.'
Wildt believes this approach will bring his company closer to customers, with simpler systems. '[It will help the company to] recognise potential technical and commercial risks at an early stage, to analyse these risks and to mitigate them together with our customers,' he said.
