Saint-Augustin, Germany – Hennecke's Techcenter has developed a method of using polyurea to produce a sealed industrial ceramic filter.
The webs between filter elements must be sealed, but not the nano channels they separate. Sealing the webs, Hennecke said, extends the useful life of the filters.
Hennecke worked with its client Nanostone Water to build a simulation of the product and the potential process. This took account of possible spraying distances and material output.
In addition, the speed that a robot would have to travel to produce the finished product was considered.
In the final machine, Hennecke's Microline precision, low-volume, high-pressure metering equipment measures the polyurea components. A robot-controlled MN6 spray head deposits polyurea in the prototype.
Hennecke said that the design, trial and build process took two years from start to finish.
