Murr, Germany – Zelu has introduced new HFC-free integral skin polyurethane foams which it claims integrate into existing production process and facilities.
The new formulations could also 'open the door to new potential applications,' said the company.
Zelu introduced the new formulations in response to regulatory pressure. From 1 January 2023 using HFCs will be prohibited. Zelu said its Zelpur SI9652 is an HFO-based product for wipeable pillows used in physiotherapy. It is very soft with a Shore OO hardness of 20-65. Its density is 150g/m3.
The wipe-clean material prevents dirt entering the cushion and for greater cleanliness a biocide can be added to the formulation.
