Morris Plains, New Jersey — Honeywell has started legal action against MEK Chemical, which, Honeywell claims, is selling HFC-245fa in the US and is violating a Honeywell US process patent.
In a statement, Honeywell said that it makes and sells HFC-245fa in the US under its Enovate brand. The product is used to make foam insulation.
In the statement, Honeywell said that MEK is a distributor and is based in the US.
Honeywell added that it is going to court because it has "invested hundreds of millions of dollars in research and development and capital to bring its products to its customers."
"Patents are a crucial tool in driving innovation and encouraging businesses to invest in long-term research and development," said Jim Fusaro, president of Honeywell Advanced Materials, the division which makes and sells Envoate HFC-245fa.
