    Hongda Jingu plans waterborne PU leather project

    Foshan, Guangdong - Hongda Jingu Innovation Technology plans to build 9kT/year waterborne polyurethane leather facility in Foshan, Guangdong.

    The project started the first stage of a public environmental impact review, on September 6, said a local government website.

    Located at the Datang Park in city's Sanshui Industry Zone, Hongda plans CNY 550m ($78m) investment. The plant is designed to cover 71,400 m2.

    The plant will comprise:

    • 12kT/year fabric dyeing and finishing;
    • 9kT/year slurry-dyed cotton yarn; and,
    • 30kT/year stabilised cotton fabric.

    The PU leather facility will use the dry method and will consume 378 tonne waterborne PU resin each year. A typical formulation is 30% PU resin ,s 5% acetone and 65% water, said the environmental filing.

    The waterborne resin has 5% VOC content, which is in compliance with Foshan's latest environmental regulations.

    The new plant will operate in two shifts and create 400 new jobs when on stream, said the environmental filing.

    Hongda Jingu was set up in 2016 with CNY 90m registered capital. It is a fully-owned subsidiary of Foshan-based Jinlin Printing Garment.
