Chongqing, Sichuan--Hongguo Polymeric Materials Technology signed a contract with Chongqing's Changshou Chemical Industry Park in January 2015 for its 50kT/year HDI (Hexamethylene Diisocyanate) and 20kT/year IPDI (Isophorone Diisocyanate) project, according to a local government website.
The project has RMB400m ($65m) investment earmarked, and Hongguo claims to be China's first and the world's second company to make HDI and IPDI with non-phosgene technology.
Diisocyanates made at the new facilities will be used in high-end coatings, synthetic leather, elastomer, adhesives and propellants. The project can be integrated into the park's industrial layout with existing sulfuric acid and butanol facilities, said the website.
