Tienen, Belgium – Huntsman has developed a polyurethane system for protective coatings that includes 20% circular content. The system, Polyresyst S4010C, is set to be introduced at the forthcoming European Coatings Show, being held in Nuremburg at the end of March.
The company said the system is based on a combination of bio-based and recycled materials, and has no trade-offs in functionality. It is said to offer improved elongation compared with existing standard systems, without compromising tensile strength, as assessed in controlled lab conditions comparing the S4010C product to the original S4010 material without the circular content.
“As a global business we are committed to driving innovation and sustainability within the coatings industry, worldwide,” said Peter Huntsman jr, the company’s VP for performance products in the EMEA region.
