The Woodlands, Texas - Huntsman Corp. and Mumbai, India-based Laffans Petrochemicals Ltd have signed a letter of intent to share know-how, expertise and resources for speciality chemicals, Huntsman said 12 June.
A Huntsman statement said both companies will use each other's capabilities and resources for surfactants and amines manufacturing in India.
Laffans, established in 1994, will be in charge of manufacturing and raw material sourcing while Huntsman's responsibilities will include commercial infrastructure, branding, product range, global approvals, technology and manufacturing processes.
Steve Stilliard, vice president of Huntsman's performance products division in Asia-Pacific, said the company expects the collaboration to be "a significant step" in Huntsman's strategy to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and support key global customers.
"The planned technology transfer will include speciality non-ionic surfactants and amines for a wide range of markets, including agrochemicals, household, personal care, oil & gas and automotive brake fluids," he concluded. (RD)
