The Woodlands, Texas -- Huntsman Corp. has finished planned maintenance at its PO/MTBE (propylene oxide/methyl t-butyl ether) facility in Port Neches, Texas.
The scheduled turnaround started in January 2010 and took about two months, said Huntsman in a 17 March statement, adding that the financial impact on the first quarter was in line with previous guidance of $30 - $35 million, including unabsorbed fixed costs.
Separately, Huntsman said that on 15 March 2010 a separate unit in Port Neches, which provides raw materials for Huntsman's Performance Products division, suffered a mechanical shut down expected to last about two weeks. The financial impact of this is expected to be about $6 - $8 million as a result of increased raw material costs, Huntsman said.
The company noted that it expects no disruption in its ability to provide downstream products to its customers.
