Houston, Texas-Huntsman Advanced Materials is to become a separate business unit, parent company Huntsman said 18 Dec. The company has operated the former Vantico business in the specially created Huntsman Polyurethanes and Specialties division, since acquiring it in July 2003.
Huntsman Advanced Materials has several urethane-based products within its portfolio, including tooling systems, liquid coatings, adhesives and electrical insulation materials.
"Patrick Thomas, who runs our Polyurethanes business, has done a superb job helping Advanced Materials grow and become an integral part of our companies," said Peter Huntsman, president and CEO of the Huntsman companies. The unit, "now has matured in our organisation to the point that it needs to be an independent Huntsman business," he explained.
Paul Hulme has been appointed as president of Huntsman Advanced Materials, the company also announced.
