Texas, US – Huntsman Building Solutions has expanded its spray polyurethane foam portfolio with the addition of a further product to its Icynene range. Icynene Xpress 55 is an open-cell SPF insulation for use in unventilated attics and crawl spaces.
The company said the low-density system is an Appendix X compliant product. As part of its I-Series, it comes with an elevated service and technical support package. Once applied, no ignition barrier is required if the attic space is merely used for the service of utilities.
Huntsman said the product exceeds the stringent fire test requirements of the International Building Code. If a fire occurs, the insulation will discontinue propagating a flame once that flame is removed from the spray foam.
It offers good adhesion to a wide variety of substrates and between layers. The 0.5-pound spray foam offers an R-value of R-3.7 at 1” and R-13 at 3.5”. It also reduces outside noise and pollution, the company said, and does not deteriorate or decompose.
