Salt Lake City, Utah - The chemical marketing and economics group of the American Chemical Society is to present its leadership award for lifetime achievement to Jon Huntsman, founder of Huntsman Corp., in December this year.
Jon Huntsman set up the company forty years ago with the purchase of a small plastics packaging building. Last year, revenues exceeded $11 billion.
George Rodriguez, chairman of the group, said, "It is uncommon to start a company and develop it into a global multibillion dollar corporation. Mr Huntsman is trailblazer. He has remained undeterred when faced with economic and technology challenges."
Jon Huntsman said in a 22 May news release that he was "deeply honoured" by the recognition.
