Everberg, Belgium -- A new isocyanate, Suprasec 2330, has improved adhesive properties and medium functionality, says developer Huntsman Polyurethanes, and is aimed at uses in rubber crumb applications including running tracks, playgrounds, sport surfaces and stable matting.
This flexible material offers a higher level of reactivity than comparable solutions, said Huntsman, and its fast-curing characteristics means it can also be used to produce adhesives for shoe-soles, wood and construction, and for general industrial use and laminating adhesives for the panel industry.
Pointing out that the new isocyanate shows Huntsman's commitment to providing raw materials for specific needs, Thorsten Gurke, technical manager of Huntsman Polyurethanes, said, "we are extending the choice for formulators when it comes to the creation of polyurethane-based adhesives. Our new solution will enable our customers to strike the right balance between strength and flexibility, while maintaining the good mechanical, reactivity and viscosity characteristics they demand."
Huntsman said its technical team can also offer formulators and manufacturers broad customer support, including advice and information on technical issues as well as EHS (environment, health and safety) matters.
