Rozenburg, The Netherlands - Huntsman's Polyurethanes division has launched three new grades of high-performance Irogran thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), specifically designed to meet with the European Union's Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations (EC2023/2006).
The three new TPU grades are designed for use in food-industry conveyor belts.
These GMP regulations, implemented in August 2008, provide strict guidance regarding the manufacture of materials intended for contact with food, and affect each stage of the process, from selection of raw materials to the point at which the product comes into contact with food, said the polyurethanes supplier.
"It was important that with the introduction of GMP we adapted our products to accommodate these new regulations," said Anja Weismann, global product portfolio manager, in the Huntsman statement.
"We developed special GMP processes to create plastics that fulfill the specific needs of this sector," which Huntsman has operated in for more than 10 years, Weismann added.
