Gent, Belgium – Composite window frames and a light-weight number plate holder made from Huntsman polyurethane composites are centre stage in an exhibition at the Design Museum, Gent.
The Huntsman window frame material has low thermal conductivity and good weathering characteristics. A similar product won a design innovation award in China in 2016. The product on display in Gent is made using the company's Rimline technology.
The exhibition, Fibre-Fixed: Composites in Design, is curated by Ignaas Verpoest from KU Leuven. Lut Pil from the LUCA School of Arts and the Dutch design collective Envisions are also involved.
Irina Bolshakova, senior market manager transportation EAMEI at Huntsman, said attendees will gain a 'clear overview of what we can expect to see coming out of composites in the near future'.
