Everberg, Belgium - Huntsman has launched a new website for its polyurethane insulation products, highlighting the role they play in reducing energy use in buildings, the company said 19 June.
Huntsman, a global supplier of MDI (methylene disphenyl diisocyanate) and related products, said a recent study by McKinsey concluded "insulation is the single, most cost-effective measure to reduce greenhouse gases." Nick Webster, Huntsman vice-president Europe, said insecure energy supply and fluctuating oil prices will drive the demand for polyurethane insulation products.
"High performance polyurethane insulation products will become more prevalent in buildings across the globe for two reasons: polyurethane's high thermal resistance and air tightness significantly lower a building's heating and cooling energy demand, leading to reduced greenhouse gas emissions," said Webster. Secondly, "the superior insulation value of polyurethane allows thinner building elements, which minimises the building footprint or maximises internal useable space," he added.
