Everberg, Belgium - Huntsman's stand (Hall 7, Stand 7-515) at the European Coatings Show in Nuremberg, Germany, 29-31 March, will cover four of the company's divisions, offering product innovations optimised to help manufacturers drive maximum value from paint, coating and adhesive formulations, says the company.
Leading the way in coating developments based on MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate). experts from Huntsman Polyurethanes will showcase:
· Suprasec 2656 prepolymer: A new solution for use in heavy-duty, two- (2k) and three-component (3k) flooring systems, offering a longer open time.
· Suprasec 2144, 2244 and 2944 prepolymers: products that cure at different speeds and are optimised for formulating structural wood adhesives.
· Vitrox -- a new binding platform for adhesives that offers high heat stability, long pot life and very fast cycle times. Vitrox is the ideal platform for adhesives in demanding applications that require high heat stability or fast-curing capabilities at moderate temperatures for heat-sensitive substrates such as plastics
The Performance Products division will introduce two new, fast, cycloaliphatic amine-curing agents. XTA-801 and DCH-99 offer low viscosity, low colour and high reactivity, and are ideal for use in coatings, flooring, tooling, adhesives and composite applications.
When combined with commercial Jeffamine polyetheramine (PEA) hardeners, these products provide enhanced glass transition temperatures, modulus and hardness, and improve chemical resistance and low temperature curing properties. They can also be used to manufacture new Mannich-base hardeners.
The business has also developed Jefflink 136 diamine: A new cycloaliphatic amine chain extender designed for use in polyurea spray coatings and which is both user and environmentally friendly.
Additionally, Huntsman Advanced Materials will present novel technology for hybrid powder coatings -- a modified epoxy-resin with good compatibility for pigments and fillers that provides outstanding surface appearance.
