San Francisco, California — Isocyanate-free polyurethane firm Hybrid Coating Technologies has shipped a pilot order to an unnamed European distributor. The order will be used to finalise field trials during the first quarter of 2017.
This is the final step, the company says, before it expects to receive commercial orders. Hybrid anticipates payments of about $800,000 for this and other planned shipments to European distributors in 2017.
“We are very pleased to have received and shipped this pilot order,” said Joseph Kristul, the company’s president and chief executive. “This shows that the company is executing on its business plan, and moving forward towards meaningful sales for 2017.”
Its Green Polyurethane technology eliminates isocyanates from the entire polyurethane production process, for foams, coatings and adhesive products. The hybrid non-isocyanate polyurethane combines the high chemical resistance properties of epoxy and advanced durability and wear-resistance of polyurethane coatings. As a foam, it can provide high R-values of up to 6, with improved tensile strength over conventional polyurethanes, Hybrid Coatings said.
The company was a recipient of the Presidential Green Chemistry Award in 2015. It recently announced that it had seen its sales increase after it received a follow-on purchase order from its US-based distributor, Industrial Finishes & Systems.
