Zhuhai, Guangdong – Hyosung Spandex (Guangdong) has started an environmental impact assessment for the fourth phase of its expansion.
The move will see the addition of four new spandex fibre production lines and a 10kT/year capacity increase.
Between 2003 and 2012, more than US$200m (EUR144m) was invested in the first three phases of the company’s expansion project, giving it a 28kT/year capacity for the material.
Hyosung Spandex (Guangdong) is a subsidiary of South Korea’s Hyosung Corporation.
The group claims to be the world’s second largest spandex fibre manufacturer with a 14% share in the global market and a 54% share in South Korea’s domestic market.
