By David Reed, UT EditorLondon-Hyperlast Ltd, the Stockport, UK-based polyurethane systems supplier, has formalised its 10-year-old contact with Shanghai Carthane Ltd, by signing a distributorship deal with the Chinese firm. The relationship will be cemented during the upcoming PU China 2004 exhibition, running 31 Aug - 2 Sept in Shanghai, where the two firms will be sharing a stand highlighting the many applications of Hyperlast products in the engineering sector. The move will launch the UK firm's brand in the People's Republic and open up the market to a comprehensive range of products-with all the fantastic growth potential that implies, a statement from Hyperlast said. The firm's range includes products for materials handling applications, elastomers for marine applications, and cast elastomers for roller coverings, as well as materials for making moulds and providing anti-slip surfaces on paths, bridges and decks of ferries. Hyperlast also supplies syntactic foam systems widely used to provide insulation and protection for deepwater oil and gas pipelines, as well as its Autothane-branded microcellular elastomer systems which are widely used in automotive shock absorbers and other vehicle suspension applications."The Hyperast-Carthane Shanghai partnership is an exciting evolution in the excellent relationship we have enjoyed since 1995 when Shanghai Carthane became our Autothane manufacturing licensee," said Mark Perry, sales director of the British Vita plc-owned firm. "Since that time, we have grown together and the Chinese market is now driving demand for other products in our range," he added."
