London – Polyurethane production is expected to show an annual growth rate of 2.9% until 2018 when it will be well over 6,500kT/year across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), according to chemical industry research firm IAL Consultants.
The company published its 10th edition of Polyurethane Chemicals and Products in Europe, Middle East and Africa, which updates and expands on the 2012 edition.
The report covers PU product production and raw material consumption figures from 2013 to 2018 and it will, for the first time, also be available separately in database format, the company said.
Total production of polyurethane products was reported at 5,756k/T in 2013 compared with almost 5,500k/T in 2011 and 5,100k/T in 2009. By 2018, this figure is forecast to be 6,630kT/year, IAL said.
Researchers found the polyurethane industry to be largest in Western Europe but, it said, growth rates are strongest in Eastern Europe and the Middle East/Africa region.
Flexible and rigid foams, CASE, binders and end-use markets are also reported in the eight-volume study.
