London – IMA, the Insulation Manufacturers Association has given an unqualified welcome to the report of the Hackitt review of UK building processes.
The IMA, formerly known at the British Rigid Urethane Foam Association, said:
'The Hackitt review has identified failings in the construction industry that must be corrected if we are to deliver the safe and secure environment we all demand and expect.
'With a great deal of thought and insight the report has identified that the only sensible way of achieving this is to have a robust performance driven testing regime with clear areas of authority, responsibility and accountability.
'We fully support this direction as it will provide the necessary framework based on actual not assumed competencies and performance and encourage future investment in construction material innovation and improvement
'We encourage the government to adopt these recommendations and implement the necessary changes speedily to ensure tragedies like Grenfell never happen again.
The Hackitt review started following the Grenfell fire tragedy in London last year.
